Nora Lee Smith is a violist, Arabic speaker, and dabbler of ethnomusicology based in the Arabian Gulf. She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Arabic Studies and a Bachelor’s of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Maryland where she was awarded a full-tuition scholarship from the School of Music. Nora has played with the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra, University of Maryland Opera Orchestra, National Music Festival Orchestra, and Symphonicity: The Symphony Orchestra of Virginia Beach.
She has spent summers at Credo Chamber Music (Oberlin, Oh), Sewanee Summer Music Festival (TN), Montecito International Music Festival (CA), and the National Music Festival (MD).
While out of the United States Nora looks forward to teaching music and Arabic to military families, assisting with coordinating the St. Christopher’s Cathedral Concert Series, and preparing to apply for graduate school.
